Meet BruiserToronto, ON
There’s a quote by Mark Twain that states, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” And this regal beagle holds plenty of fight in his little body.
Twelve-year-old Bruiser was adopted by his family of Pet Lovers, arriving with a patient disposition, a loving personality, and a bad case of diabetes. Bruiser endured 16 shots of insulin every day in order to control the disease.
Bruiser’s mom, Donna, discovered ACANA when she began fostering pets. Bruiser’s diabetes means that he needs a diet high in fibre and low in carbs and fat, in order to maintain healthy blood-sugar levels. Donna started Bruiser on ACANA Wild Prairie, and the change in her little warrior was clear. Not only did Bruiser love the flavour of the recipe, but he appeared to be feeling much better.

Now Bruiser has more time to spend with his family; especially dad, Bruce, who is the Batman to Bruiser’s Robin – fitting, right? Bruce is the designated Walker in Chief. The pair love their strolls together. Despite Bruiser’s blindness, his nose is a trusty detector of any morsels of food that he might find, as he also suffers from the ubiquitous canine illness of Convinced I Am Starving At All Times disease.
Bruiser’s brethren of siblings and fosters are all fed ACANA as well, and Lulu, Sophia, and Rosie share the same opinion as Bruiser when it comes to ACANA, drooling over mealtimes and licking the bowl clean.
